SERVICE OVERVIEW
Quartz broadcast flooring is a multi-layer resin system in which coloured quartz aggregate is distributed into a wet epoxy, polyaspartic, urethane cement or other compatible resin layer. After curing, loose aggregate is removed and the embedded quartz is sealed with protective grout and finish coats.
Unlike decorative vinyl flakes, quartz is a dense mineral aggregate. Its physical texture can contribute to a harder-wearing surface and provide adjustable traction for commercial, institutional and working environments.
Quartz flooring is available in standard and custom colour blends. The finished appearance, texture and performance depend on the aggregate size, broadcast method, resin chemistry, number of layers, system thickness and amount of clear sealer applied over the quartz.
Single-broadcast systems may suit lighter applications, while double-broadcast, mortar or heavy-duty systems can provide additional build for more demanding environments. The project requirements determine which construction is appropriate.
PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
Quartz flooring can be configured with different levels of texture. A more exposed aggregate profile may provide greater traction in wet or active areas, but the same texture can hold more soil and require stronger cleaning equipment or more frequent maintenance.
Applying additional clear sealer creates a smoother surface that may be easier to clean, but it can reduce the amount of exposed texture. The required traction and cleaning process should therefore be considered together.
The resin beneath and above the quartz is equally important. Epoxy, polyaspartic, urethane cement and MMA-based quartz systems offer different curing schedules and resistance to moisture, ultraviolet light, chemicals and temperature.
Quartz flooring can create a dense and continuous finished surface, but it should not automatically be treated as a waterproofing membrane. Drains, cracks, joints, penetrations, transitions and wall connections require separate assessment where water containment is expected.

Open joints, worn finishes and porous concrete can collect contaminants. Quartz flooring can create a continuous floor with optional cove transitions, although the texture must remain compatible with the facility’s cleaning methods.

Industrial-looking concrete may not suit a customer-facing, institutional or public facility. Coloured quartz blends combine a decorative speckled appearance with the physical texture of mineral aggregate.

Commercial kitchens, cafeterias, grocery stores, retail properties and service businesses may require a durable floor that can withstand foot traffic, cleaning and routine spills. Quartz blends provide a decorative finish while allowing the surface texture to be adjusted around wet or active areas.
Hospitals, clinics, laboratories, veterinary facilities, schools and other institutional properties may use quartz flooring in corridors, treatment areas, restrooms and support spaces. Integral cove bases can be considered where the facility needs a more continuous transition from the floor to the wall.
Each environment still requires a specific assessment. Hot grease, steam, sanitation chemicals and thermal change may make urethane cement a more appropriate base than conventional epoxy in demanding commercial kitchens or washdown areas.
INDUSTRIAL
Food packaging areas, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, light-manufacturing spaces and selected warehouse environments may use quartz broadcast flooring where durability, traction and regular cleaning are important.
Double-broadcast or heavy-duty quartz systems can provide additional build for rolling loads, carts and concentrated traffic. A urethane cement, epoxy, polyaspartic or MMA base may be selected according to moisture, temperature, downtime and operational exposure.
Manufacturing plants dealing with strong chemicals, continuous washdowns, thermal shock or heavy impact require more than a decorative flooring decision. The actual chemicals, cleaning process, equipment loads and operating temperature must be reviewed before the resin system is specified.
RESIDENTIAL
Residential garages and workshops may use quartz broadcast flooring when the property owner prefers a denser mineral appearance and more physical texture than decorative vinyl flake. The complete system can be selected around vehicles, tools, storage and regular cleaning.
Mudrooms, utility areas, pool surrounds and selected interior concrete spaces may also benefit from adjustable texture. The aggregate blend and sealer thickness should balance traction with the desired appearance and ease of maintenance.
Pool decks, patios and other exterior concrete require systems specifically intended for sunlight, standing water, weather and temperature changes. A quartz finish should not be installed outdoors without confirming that every resin layer is suitable for exterior exposure.
